Interview evaluation

Interview Evaluation

Overall I am really pleased with our interview. I feel that it is appropriate and entertaining to a wide variety of people. Are interview is mainly based around James and his life of being the only blind personal trainer, not only is this an interesting subject but it also gives people an opportunity to see how James copes and about himself of a day to day basis working at a personal trainer and Virgin Active gym in Bromley.
We used two cameras to film our interview to make it more interesting for our viewers so that we could change from one angle to another, we also added in short clips of James working out to our interview to make it more entertaining as well as just listening to James answer our questions which we had prepared for him.
I was very pleased overall that James responded to our questions well and always gave us a lot of detail in his answers, this made myself and Ryan also feel very confident to ask him other questions which we thought of at the time rather than just the question we had prepared. James was willing for us to ask him  any questions what we came up with and could cross any sort of subjects about his personal life, career, future goals and what he has found difficult over the years.
When going to film part of interview on a day in which we had set, James unfortunately couldn't get back from London in time due to diversions of london transport, this wasn't done intentionally so myself and Ryan had to re schedule for the next day, unfortunately i was going to see my nan in hospital so i was unable to make it, however Ryan said it would be fine for him to set up and film the interview which i was very thankful for.
Overall I am very pleased with our interview and have enjoyed working and editing on our interview together as a team with Ryan.

I have a handful of questions in which we asked James that we thought were good and bad questions.

My first question that I feel was not our best was ' What does it feel like to be a celebrity'?
The reason why i feel that this was one of our weaker questions was because James was a bit unsure of what to answer, there was a bit of a long pause and as he didn't really class himself as a celebrity he sort of gave us a one word answer which wasn't really the response we wanted. Apart from this question all of our other responces were brilliant! One of our best questions we asked were 'Will you ever let being blind stop you from doing anything'? Myself and Ryan could not believe the amount of depth that James went into about this questions. Another question in which we received a great response was,
'Do you think your daughter has been effected in anyway growing up by her father being blind'?
This was one of our strongest questions in which we asked James, this question was very emotional for James to answer, this will make our audience watching our interview see how hard it is for those who have children and who have a terminal unexpected illness like James. A question in which i felt would inspire people watching our interview was 'Have you set yourself any life goals'? James went into a lot of detail in telling us that anyone can achieve what they want if they put their mind to it, i feel that by James saying this it will give people who are watching our interview a chance to succeed in anything that they want to do in life.

  1. To get a Merit for this Kristie you have to at least mention one specific question and why it worked well.

For Distinction you should discuss a range of questions and what worked and what didn't giving specific examples.
